Session 4: The Mountains – Grand Landscapes & Dramatic Skies

In this session, we’ll focus on capturing the grandeur of mountain vistas and the sweeping skies that often accompany them. Learn how to approach mountain landscapes with strong compositions, layering techniques and atmospheric effects that create depth and realism. From sketching the landscape’s structure to painting dramatic skies and textured rocky ridges, this class will teach you how to capture the awe and scale of the natural world in your artwork.

Objectives:

• Capture the majesty of mountain landscapes with strong compositions.

• Learn layering techniques to create realistic rock textures and form.

• Understand how light and shadow impact large-scale landscapes and how to apply them in your painting.
