Succulent Slab Pots – Hand-building in Clay (2-part workshop)
Day 1: Sunday, June 8, 2025 | 9:30am - noon
Day 2: Wednesday, June 18, 2025 | 5 - 7pm (glaze)
Join us for a 2-part pottery workshop where you’ll create unique, handcrafted slab pots intended for small succulent plants. Using simple hand-building techniques, textures and tools, you’ll craft several custom pots. On the first day, we’ll work with stoneware clay (cone 5) to roll out slabs, create textures and patterns, and attach pieces to form vessels. Between the class dates, your instructor will slowly dry and bisque-fire your pieces. In the second session, you’ll glaze your pots, choosing from a range of colorful glaze options to showcase the textures and patterns. After glazing, your pieces will undergo a final high-temperature firing to create a durable, watertight surface, perfect for holding your succulent plants. Your finished pottery will be ready for pickup approximately two weeks after the second class.
This intimate workshop is designed for a smaller group to ensure personalized guidance in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Set outdoors at the picturesque Three Leaf Farm in Lafayette, CO, this class is open to all adults (ages 18+) regardless of experience. All materials and firing costs are included. No experience needed - all levels welcome!
