Celebrating Spring Equinox with Spirit Dolls
Creating your own spirit doll is a wonderful way to honor the arrival of spring and set intentions for personal growth. In this 2 - evening workshop, students will learn about how handmade dolls have been used around the world to represent the human form in ritual, folklore, and religion.  Taught by anthropologist, ethnobotanist, and herbalist Sara Martinelli, we’ll explore the many cultures that have historically used dolls to facilitate healing or connection to the divine. As the Earth rejuvenates and awakens from winter slumber at the Spring Equinox, let us too open ourselves up to the endless possibilities that lie within us. Creating spirit dolls and celebrating the Spring Equinox gives us the opportunity to tap into the transformative energy of the season and harness it for our personal growth and well-being.

What are Spirit Dolls?
Spirit dolls, also known as wish dolls or guardian dolls, are hand-crafted vessels imbued with personal intentions, wishes, and positive energies. These beautiful creations are not only visually enchanting but also hold deep spiritual significance for many cultures worldwide. They serve as a reminder of our aspirations, dreams, and the potential for transformation. Your doll will become a creative and magical representation of yourself that you can craft to reflect your own intentions, wishes, and will.  Your personal Spirit Doll will bring whatever qualities you wish into you life, whether it be love, healing, peace or anything else you can think of. As you craft your doll, you will use your own creative energy, as well as a personal selection of herbs to further strengthen the purpose of the doll.

This workshop will include

1. Brief Discussion about the History of Spirit Dolls -

2. Gathering Materials: Begin by collecting various materials that resonate with you. These could include yarn, fabric, ribbons, beads, feathers, dried herbs, and other decorative elements. We will have a wide range of materials available to you to use, and we encourage you to bring any fabric, charms, yarn or other decorative things that you might want to use for your doll.

3. Designing Your Doll: Once you have your materials, envision what qualities and energies you would like your spirit doll to embody. Whether it be strength, abundance, love, or serenity, allow your intuition to guide you in designing the physical appearance of your doll. Our discussion will cover a wide range of intentions and help you delve into your own subconscious to find your own personal focus.

4. Building Sacred Connection: During the creation process, we will work within a sacred space that emanates positive energy and encourages inner reflection. Crafters will have full access to our herbal apothecary to add the energies of sacred plants to your doll.

5. Infusing with Intention: As you craft your doll, infuse each stitch, bead, or feather with your heartfelt intentions. Focus on your desires, dreams, and personal aspirations, allowing these wishes to resonate with every part of your creation.
6. Charging the Spirit Doll: Once your spirit doll is finished, take a moment to honor its significance. We will have a sacred space where you will learn to charge your doll with the power of the four elements and connect your doll to your personal intentions and energies.

• Students are welcome to bring personal supplies

• Students  may bring food and drink. Tea and Beverages will be available.

• Cancellations made within 2 weeks of the workshop are non-refundable for any reason, but are transferable.
