Volunteers Welcome!

We welcome volunteers on the farm and are grateful for any help we can get with the endless chores on the property.  If you’d like to volunteer, please email us to begin a dialog about available times.  farm@threeleafconcepts.com

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.  Children may be allowed when accompanied by a working adult, but we are sorry to say that we are not equipped to have kids volunteer without their parents (we are working toward some youth programming for next year – stay posted!)

We have recently had a lot of interest in our animals, and it’s important to note that most first time volunteers will not be permitted to handle or work with our animals.  Volunteers can expect that they might be tasked with the following jobs:

  • Seeding/Planting
  • Weeding
  • Harvesting
  • Farm construction
  • Working on trails
  • Flood Debris Cleanup

Equine Volunteers

Equine volunteers are welcome but must be pre-approved.  If you are interested in being an equine volunteer, please email farm@threeleafconcepts.com

Equine volunteers can expect the following tasks:

  • Mucking/cleaning stalls
  • Cleaning pasture
  • Cleaning waterers

Volunteers who have demonstrated some equine skill may be tasked with:

  • Grooming Horses
  • Handgrazing Horses
  • Helping with turnout
  • Helping with feeding

Volunteer Introduction to Farming Certification Program

Want to learn about organic farming?

Our  Volunteer Introduction to Farming Certification Program (VIF) offers a unique opportunity to expand your personal knowledge of farming, animal husbandry, farm to table business, and more.  We offer short, 4 week volunteer positions throughout the summer that will give you an introduction background in a number of areas of small scale farming.

Our program is designed to be a mutually beneficial program for both the participant and the farm. Our goal is to provide an educational experience for our participants that suits their future aspirations, and to that end, we endeavor to schedule tasks and chores that meet that goal. Due to this, we request a serious commitment from our volunteers and expect that they will respect our schedules and the farm in general.

Our participants will learn the basics of organic farming and sustainable agriculture, and be exposed to a variety of farm work, including:

  • Greenhouse management
  • Seeding and transplanting
  • Nurturing crops
  • Harvesting and post-harvest handling
  • Soil management and composting
  • Caring for chickens

Because of the diversity of operations on Three Leaf Farm, there is also an option for participants to incorporate some individual interests into their personalized program. For example, gaining familiarity with farm-to-restaurant business models, handling horses, learning about herbs, beekeeping, etc. We welcome applicants to discuss the possibility of adding any of these components to their personalized programs with the program manager prior to the start of the program.

Our participants are required to:

  • Commit to 8 hours per week of scheduled volunteer work, for a period of 4 weeks
  • Supply at least one work or school letter of recommendation – does not need to be in agriculture field
  • Be prepared to work hard and get dirty

At the end of the program, if it has been completed successfully, the participant will receive a Certificate of Completion and a Letter of Reference from us at the Three Leaf Farm.

We are currently accepting applications!
