October 9 - 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Celebrate the Halloween season with this fun, informative, hands-on workshop. Local certified herbalist, and owner of Three Leaf Farm, Sara Martinelli, will explore the way herbs, flowers, roots and seeds have been used throughout history in rituals to promote healing and spiritual connection to the divine. From the native tribes of the Americas, to medieval rites in Europe, plants of all kinds have been employed and embraced by humans for both their physical and energetic properties. These botanical allies have become integral threads in the cultures of the people who use them.
For centuries, people have used herbs, roots and flowers for all kinds of medicinal and spiritual purposes. Imbued with meanings, each plant is reputed to carry it’s own vibrations and spirit. Plants can support us internally as medicine, or externally, by drawing certain energies and vibrations. This workshop will start with a discussion about some familiar herbs and will explore the history and folklore of each. A short guided meditation will allow participants to attune themselves to the spirit of the plants. An exploration of the spiritual and energetic meaning of a variety of herbs will allow participants to thoughtfully choose the herbs with which to craft their poppet.
Participants will have the opportunity to make at least one personal Herbal Spirit charm. Choices include an herbal dream pillow, a medicine bag, or a traditional prayer bottle. Participants will participate in a non-denominational ritual to purify and charge it, learning the basics of ritual and how to create sacred space.
